Paul Blart: Mall Cop is returning for a sequel.
Largely panned by critics, the 2009 film starred Kevin James earned $183 million.
The film was mostly shot at the Burlington Mall in 2008. During the filming, parts of the mall were decorated in Christmas decorations for the film despite it being spring.
Sony Pictures is in talks with Andy Flickman to direct the sequel. James will co-produce the film with Todd Garner and Adam Sandler.
Filming is reportedly expected to start in April.
Will the sequel return to film in Burlington? Simon Malls told Patch on Thursday that they have not been contacted by the movie makers yet.
James and Sandler have made a number of movies in Massachusetts over the past few years, including “Grown Ups,” “Grown Ups 2,” and “Zookeeper.”
