Local chorus begins rehearsals for 50th anniversary concert

On January 7, 2014 the Mishawum Choral Society will begin rehearsals for its 50th anniversary concert to be performed May 4, 2014.  The group is planning a gala event, including guest appearances by five former directors, each of whom will direct a favorite piece.  It is hoped that many former members will also be in attendance and that some may rejoin the chorus for this special concert.

The Mishawum Choral Society is very fortunate to have the gifted Brian Gilbertie as its Music Director.  Gilbertie is also Choral Director at Woburn Memorial High School.  The exquisite talent of Sarah Lafontaine on the piano provides the group’s accompaniment.

Rehearsals are every Tuesday evening from 7:30-9:30 in the chorus room of Woburn Memorial High School.  Open rehearsals are held throughout the month of January for potential new members. No formal auditions are required, but new members are expected to be experienced in four-part choral singing and to be able to read along with sheet music.

The Society is composed of a group of approximately 50 men and women from a number of different towns in the area who share a love of singing and the joy of joining their voices to produce glorious choral music.  If you feel that you could contribute to this end, go to the website www.mishawumchoral.org for information on membership.
