Food Mystery Writer Edith Maxwell to Talk at Presbyterian Church of Burlington

Five things to know today.

Today is Thursday, August 22. Here are five things to know: 

1) Chance of afternoon thunderstorms 

Looks like a mixed-bag weather-wise today. According to the National Weather Service we can expect a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Otherwise mostly sunny with a high near 87 degrees. Chance of showers and thunderstorms after 7 p.m. tonight with otherwise cloudy skies and a low around 65. 

2) Meet the author 

Edith Maxwell, a local food mystery writer, will be at the Presbyterian Church of Burlington at 7 p.m. to talk about her new book 'A Tine To Live, A Tine To Die'. Books will be available to purchase and be autographed. Click here for more information

3) Magic Show

The Burlington Public Library is holding a magic show for participants in the Summer Reading Program at 2 p.m. today. "Join magician and juggler Scott Jameson for an extraordinary performance that will have you laughing out loud and perched on the very edge of your seat."  

4) Public speaking 

There is a session of the "Last Word Toastmasters Club" at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the library. This Toastmasters Club is an international organization dedicated to helping members improve their communication and leadership skills. Come join the fun-filled, stress-free, supportive group. Walk-ins are always welcome.
