Today is Friday, August 9. Here are five things to know:
1) Showers and thunderstorms possible
Though it was wrong about yesterday's chance of storms we'll see if the National Weather Service has it right about today. The service is saying that showers and thunderstorms are likely before 11 a.m. this morning and possible this afternoon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 79. Chance of showers and storms tonight with a low around 66.
2) Craft fun
The Burlington Public Library is holding a craft program for children in grades 5 and up from 2:30 and 4 p.m. Learn to make a hedgie out of an old paperback book. Registration is required: call the Youth Services department at 781-270-1692, or visit the Library's on-line calendar, navigate to August 9, and click on the 'hand' to bring up a registration form.
3) Book club
The Revive Community Church, 111 Terrace Hall Avenue, is holding a women's book club, reading faith-based books, gathering every six weeks for fun discussion. Inviting friends is encouraged! 4) Register for skating lessons
Registration for Fall Pre-School Skating Camp has begun. Ice skating lessons for children 2 1/2-5 years old available on Wednesday and Thursday mornings 9:30-10:20 a.m. this fall. Starts September 25. Click here for more info.
