Burlington Public Library Closing Early for Safety Reasons

The library will be closing early until further notice.

The Burlington Public Library will be closing at 4 p.m. daily until further notice due to a safety issue, according to a notice from Library Director Lori Hodgson.

The emergency lighting system is out of order therefore, in a power outage, the library has no working lights to safely evacuate the building, Hodgson explained.

The town is working diligently to remedy the situation. Because it is an old system, the parts to make a repair are not readily available and they do not yet have a date as to when this will be available.
