The following is a letter to the editor from the Committee to Elect Walter Zenkin for State Representative, 21st Middlesex District:
Former State Rep Marianne Brenton has announced her endorsement of Walter Zenkin in his pursuit of becoming the standard-bearer for her former legislative district which includes Burlington, Bedford and part of Wilmington. Brenton was elected State Rep to the Massachusetts state legislature in 1990 and served three terms until her retirement in 1997. She previously served as a member of the Burlington School Committee and continues to reside in Burlington.
“Walter Zenkin’s track record of service within the local community is unrivaled by anyone else in this race,” declared Brenton. “Walter has done right by the people of Burlington for over a decade. He successfully worked with other leaders in the community to promote the local economy to make sure it remained competitive without sacrificing the quality of municipal services during some difficult years. It is with great pride that I offer my endorsement to Walter Zenkin as the best candidate to lead the 21st Middlesex District and help our local economy achieve its fullest potential.”
Zenkin, a life-long resident of Burlington, is very familiar with Brenton’s track record as a former state legislator.
“I’m proud to have voted for Marianne when she ran previously, and it’s incredibly humbling knowing that I have her support this time around,” said Zenkin. “She has always been, and continues to be, extremely respected throughout the district for her reputation of demonstrating commonsense in her actions as a fiscal watchdog on Beacon Hill. Marianne’s balanced commitment to fiscal prudence with her ardent belief in maintaining quality public education is a legacy I plan to carry with me.”
