The Best Love Song Ever Is...

Valentine's Day is approaching, and we're compiling a list of love songs.

It's Valentine's Day, and love is in the air... on the radio, in the coffee shops and maybe on your iPod.

You know there's that one song that melts your heart every time you hear it. For me, it's "Over the Rainbow," sung by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. I don't know what it is, but that song makes stop in my tracks whenever those first notes are played.

A colleague of mine and I came up with this list of classic love songs:

  • "Wonderful Tonight," Eric Clapton
  • "Love Song," The Cure
  • "At Last," Etta James
  • "Unchained Melody," The Righteous Brothers
  • "All I Want is You," U2

Is your favorite on our short list? If not, share it in the comments section below.

For me it's "Fly Me to the Moon" - Frank makes everything a love song, followed a close second by "The Way You Look Tonight"

George Harrison's "Something" & Eric Clapton's "Layla" were about Patti Boyd. What a Siren she must have been to inspire these two passionate songs!

Well that's always been Patti Boyd's claim. But George Harrison revealed before his death that he simply wanted to pen a classic love song in the manner of a Ray Charles tune -- it wasn't based on a particular person at all. BTW: Frank Sinatra called "Something" the "greatest love song ever written".
