Burlington may soon boast a new restaurant at the corner of Mall Road and New England Executive Park. Tavern in the Square, a small, locally owned chain is planning to open its sixth restaurant, this one in Burlington, in the spring of 2012.
The company has received a liquor license, according to Selectmen Daniel DiTucci. The plan was also approved by the Planning Board on Sept. 15. Tavern in the Square intends to build a 5,000 square foot addition to the space as well as an outdoor patio seating area. In total, the restaurant will accommodate up to 300 guests and will include a small function room which will hold 30-50 guests.
According to Stephen Desousa, Managing Partner of Tavern in the Square, the restaurant offers a fun, relaxed atmosphere and an abundant menu which varies from location to location.
“We offer something for everyone,” said Desousa. “We have a strong lunch business. We cater to the after work crowd, and on the weekend, we are a great place for families.”
The Tavern in the Square boasts an enormous menu with over 100 items and plenty of big screen televisions to satisfy sports lovers. Desousa stated that the company is in the process of refining the menu and adding items for clients with allergies such as gluten allergies. But, he says the menu will still be expansive.
“You’ll never get bored,” he adds.
Tavern in the Square is well known, according to Desousa, for its all-you-can-eat Sunday breakfast buffet. For $15.99 per person, you can select from nearly 30 breakfast items, visit an omelet chef and an ice cream sundae bar.
Prices are moderate with appetizers ranging from $7-$11 and entrees from $14-$15. The location will have 150 parking spaced exclusive to the restaurant and the company expects to be hiring 75-100 new employees both part and full time.
The Tavern in the Square will be open seven days a week offering lunch and dinner and will also open for breakfast on weekends.

Dave and Busters was expected to be 40,000 sq. ft. for 675 seats. This seems to be 5000 sq. ft. for 300 seats.

Dave and Busters was not only HUGE, it also had inadequate parking and dangerous entry and exit routes (right turn only both ways). This restaurant is just that - a restaurant. D&B is a whole different animal in a vastly different location.
