Roots Yoga Opening Doors Tomorrow

The new yoga studio will have an evening reception tomorrow and free trial classes this weekend.

Roots Yoga, 220 Cambridge Street, will be celebrating its grand opening weekend starting with a kick-off event this Friday evening from 6 to 10 p.m.

The opening evening reception will allow people to see the studio space, meet the instructors and enjoy some acoustic music as well as henna tattoo artistry.   Roots will be hosting complimentary classes on both Saturday and Sunday.   Saturday free class times are 9:30-11 a.m. and 12-1:30 p.m. and 4:00-5:30 p.m. Sunday free class times are at 9:30-11 a.m. and 12-1:30 p.m.

The  studio owner, Ginger Boermeester, explains that she named the studio ‘Roots Yoga’ as rooting and grounding is metaphoric to the yoga practice and she also grew up in Burlington. Roots Yoga seemed to her a natural metaphoric extension for the name of the studio that she has opened so that she can share her passion and the gift of yoga with the people and community that have served her well.

“I named the studio ‘Roots Yoga’ as I grew up in Burlington and have always had a strong connection with the community here.  As yoga practitioners and students we know the importance of rooting and grounding within our practice. Roots Yoga seemed a natural metaphoric extension for the name of the studio that I have opened so that I can share my passion and the gift of yoga with the people and community that have served me well, “ explained Ginger in a release she sent to Patch.

To get ready for the opening, owner and instructor Ginger Boermeester hired local artisan, Donna Flecchia of Classic Faux & Finishes. “When deciding on colors for the space, the owner knew she wanted to use earthy, warm rich colors. She chose fiery orange/red walls that complement the floors and darker pieces of furniture already in the space. She also wanted to add texture. After showing me a picture of a technique similar to what she was looking for, I was able to come up with a sample that was exactly what she wanted. The glazed color wash gave the space just the right amount of texture, and she loves how it turned out!“ Donna said in the release.
