Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Dec. 20

• At 12:14 am. an Arboretum Way caller reported a small animal was inside her apartment. Caller to contact maintenance and call back if she needs further assistance. At 12:44 a.m. the caller contacted police again for help and police were able to assist in removing the rodent. The animal was was captured and safely brought outside for release.
• At 7:55 a.m. a Leopold Street caller reported a male in an a dark older model SUV driving through the neighborhood looking through trash. Man as gone when police arrived.
• At 8:07 a.m. a Hillsdale Avenue caller reported a man driving around collecting cans from people's trash. The male was driving erratically in an attempt to beat the trash trucks during the time children were waiting for the school bus. The caller said the man nearly hit a mother and child at a bus stop. • At 10:43 a.m. police responded to a bank robbery at Brookline Bank. Police arrested John Stocki, 32, of 16 Webster St., Lexington on a charge of unarmed robbery. Click here for details. 
• AT 11:34 a.m. a caller at the Burlington Mall reported that she left her pocketbook at Au Bon Pain and when she returned it was gone.
• At 12:19 p.m. police arrested William McNabb, 51, of 12B Seven Springs Lane, Burlington on a charge of trespass. Arrest made following a report of a man causing a problem at Arborpoint at Seven Springs.
• At 12:41 p.m. a caller at H Mart reported her vehicle was struck in a hit and run accident while it was parked.
• At 4:04 p.m. a manager at Trader Joe's reported three motor vehicles were broken into between 3 and 3:30 p.m.
• At 4:18 p.m. a Best Buy loss prevention caller reported a female trying to return merchandise that she just took off the shelf.
• AT 4:58 p.m. a L. L. Bean manager reported receiving a counterfeit $100 bill.

Dec. 21

• At 1:14 p.m. a caller at the Burlington Mall reported witnessing a hit and run accident with minor damage to the victim vehicle. Police checked area but the suspect vehicle was gone on arrival.
• At 1:22 p.m. a Maple Street caller reported that he drove over a downed wire and it got caught in his bumper and did damage to his vehicle.
• At 3:33 p.m. Kohl's security reported a female shoplifter.
• At 10:29 p.m. an off duty officer on Glendale Road reported seeing flames come out from a window. Same was caused by children playing with hairspray and a lighter. Parents notified and will handle.
