Release: Upcoming Events at the Burlington Public Library

The Burlington Public Library has a wide variety of upcoming programs and events.

The  has a bunch of upcoming events and ongoing programs residents can check out. The following is a press release listing what is currently happening and coming soon.

Programs for Children:

Haiku Poetry Workshop Tuesday, July 26, 1:00 pm. In this 2-hour workshop with poet & artist Yetti Frankel, participants will learn about Haiku poetry and create and illustrate their own poems in a folded card.  For ages 9 and up. Registration required.

Board Games for Kids Wednesday, July 27, 1:00 pm

Enjoy an afternoon full of fun board and card games!  For children ages 3 and up.

Pajama Storytime and Craft Wednesday, July 27, 7:00 pm 

Join us for stories, songs, and crafts! Kids: feel free come in your pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal.  For children ages 3-7. 

Author Visit & Book Signing with Kevin Markey Thursday, July 28, 3:00 pm. Come meet children’s book author Kevin Markey! There will be books available for purchase – and signing!  For elementary students. 

Chess Tips & Strategies Friday, July 29. Beginners @ 12:30, Intermediate @ 1:30, Advanced @ 2:30. Join Mike Sullivan as he teaches chess to youth of all ages at various levels!  Registration required. 

Programs for Teens:

Travel Scrapbooking Workshop  -Thursday, July 28 from 1-1:45PM

Bring in pictures for some scrapbook fun! Paper, stickers, markers, and stamps will be provided to decorate your own scrapbook pages! Registration required.

Chess Tips & Strategies -Friday, July 29 from 12:30-3:30

Join Michael Sullivan for a day of chess. Each hour will hold a different ability level. Beginner chess players will come in from 12:30-1:30, intermediate 1:30-2:30, and advanced from 2:30-3:30. You decide what level you would like to attend. Registration required.

New faces on the Circulation Desk

The library is pleased to welcome Melissa Rochbert and Jenna Cantino to the staff.  They are the new faces who will be available to assist you when you stop at the Circulation Desk.  

E-books

Are you an audiobook listener or an e-book reader? Did you know about the availability of free downloadable materials from the library?  Burlington Public Library, as a member of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium, subscribes to Overdrive.  Through this subscription, there are almost 2000 audiobooks and 1000 e-books available to you.  Burlington library card holders have access to all of these titles plus additional e-books purchased by the Burlington Public Library.  These additional purchases enable our patrons to have access to more titles and to get their copy sooner. If you want to learn how to download free ebooks and/or audiobooks from the Burlington Public Library web site to your compatible e-reader, Smartphone, or audio device the Reference Department offers one-on-one classes.  Bring in your device(s) and/or your laptop and we will walk you step-by-step through the process of downloading books. If you have a desktop computer at home or you are just curious about digital media, we will be happy to demonstrate using our equipment.
