Who could expect snow before Halloween? Well, despite the weather, which was an icy rain Saturday afternoon, Burlington residents still turned up for Spooktacular 2011 at Simonds Park.

The Halloween event, which marked its second year this weekend, is put on by the Burlington Recreation Department, The Rotary Club of Burlington and the Burlington High School Rotary Interact Club.

People Helping People was also on hand accepting cash and food donations and area businesses, including B-Good, the Rainforest Café, AMC Theaters, TD North, True North Coffee and Nordstroms were there handing out food, snacks and give-aways, though many had to pack up early due to the weather.

The Interact Club's haunted house remained open, and proved to be a popular, though frightening, draw. The Interact members, all between the ages of 12 and 18, did a great job setting up the house and staffing it with ghouls, ghosts and other scary creatures.

Check out our image gallery of the event and if you have any pictures of your own feel free to add them to the story.
