Needham Olympian Aly Raisman and teammate McKayla Maroney were injured after they fell from the uneven bars while performing in the Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastics Champions in California over the weekend, WCVB reports.
Raisman fell onto her stomach during her routine on the uneven bars, according to WCVB, but was able to walk out of the arena.
But Maroney, who reportedly fell while she was trying to land a dismount during her uneven bars routine, had to be carried from the room by medics.
Neither of the two gymnasts were featured in the show's finale, according to WCVB.
The WCVB report also stated that a source had confirmed that Raisman was OK and was in San Diego. The 40-city tour is expected to continue as planned, and includes a stop in Boston on Nov. 11.
Raisman grew up in Needham but trained for the Olympics at the Brestyan’s American Gymnastics Club in Burlington. Last month she was given a hero's welcome when she returned to her Burlington gym (see video of the event).
