Today is Tuesday, May 10. Here are 5 things you need to know:

  • Chance of showers: Looks like we may get a little wet today. According to the National Weather Service the area can expect rain showers, mainly after 11 a.m. Otherwise it will be mostly cloudy and windy, with gusts has high as 34 miles per hour. High temperature of 59 degrees.
  • New career help: The library is also hosting a Career Transitionprogram from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today. This is a networking and workshop dedicated to providing a 'roadmap to re-employment' for transitioning professionals. It is free and all are welcome.
  • Political prison to president: On this day in 1994 Nelson Mandela was sworn in as South Africa's first black president and served in that position until 1999. Nelson had spent 27 years in prison (1962 - 1990) after being charged with sabotage for participating in anti-apartheid activism.
