Today is Thursday, March 1. Here are 5 things you need to know:

• Snow: It looks like winter has finally arrived. According to the National Weather Service we can expect more snow today, with a total accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible. High temperature near 34 degrees. Snow also likely tonight with new accumulation of less than an inch. Overnight low around 23.

• Public meetings: The Burlington Housing Authority is meeting at 10 a.m. in the Housing Authority Office. The Board of Assessors is meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex hearing room and the Planning Board is meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall main hearing room.

• History in memory: The Burlington Historical Society is hosting a meeting today in the Burlington Community Life Center. The meeting will feature a roundtable discussion with Bennett family members, whose ancestors first came to town around the 1800’s and in time owned acres of farmland. Entry is $2.

• Student concert: The Burlington High School Music Department will hold its annual Ides of March Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of the high school. The Ides of March Concert will feature the talents of the Burlington High School Chorus and Select Singers under the direction of John Middleton-Cox, and the Burlington High School Concert and Jazz Band, under the baton of Matt Lovell.

• Salem witch hunt begins: On this day in 1629, Sarah Goode, Sarah Osborne and Tituba, a slave from Barbados, were arrested in Salem Village for practicing witchcraft. Officials began searching for more witches after several "afflicted" residents came forward. The women were later tried and executed for their "crimes," as were 16 others.
