• Sunny and breezy: Looks like a pretty nice day, though a bit gusty. According to the National Weather Service we can expect sunny skies with a high near 53. North wind between 8 and 13 miles per hour with gusts as high as 24 mph. Partly cloudy tonight with a low around 30. 

• Closings: Burlington Public Schools are closed today in observance of Good Friday. Other town facilities, including Town Hall and the Library will be open. The Library will be closed on Sunday, April 8 for Easter. 

• Quilting: The Burlington Public Library is hosting the Quilt Club today from 10 a.m. to noon. The group is open to anyone and is for people who love quilting and want to share ideas with friends.

• Carrying a torch: On this day in 1896, the first modern Olympic Games are held in Athens. The tradition began in Ancient Greece, but was banned by a Roman emperor. After 1,500, the games were reborn and saw athletes from 13 nations compete in the international games. There were reportedly 60,000 spectators for the games. The first recorded Olympic Games were held in 776 B.C. and then every four years during a festival honoring the Greek god Zeus.
